We are receiving a number of queries in respect of the recent national and local press and media coverage in relation to the raising of the minimum pension age from 50 to 55 on 6th April 2010.

Until about three years ago police officers who were members of the George Burrows Group Life Insurance Scheme could insure their spouse in the Spouse Life Insurance Scheme at any time.

Yesterday (9th November) we published an entry which referred to an increase in Police Federation subscriptions as from 1st January 2010 following a decision made by the Police Federation Joint Central Committee.

Late on Friday (6th November 2009) we were to learn that the National Joint Central Committee of the Police Federation had voted to increase Federation subscriptions from £4.05 to £4.98 per week as from 1st January 2010. In respect of the lunar subscriptions in Norfolk this is an increase of £3.72 which for a basic tax payer means a net increase of around £2.98 per four weeks after tax relief.
